Last year I attended a Tony Robbins ‘Unleash The Power Within’ seminar in West Palm Beach, Florida. At this time I was separated from who is now my wife and working in an outside sales role that I was really unsatisfied with. I went to the event out of pure desperation as I was looking for alternatives and I felt like I had nothing to lose. During the seminar, I had an opportunity to reflect on my entire life, both the good and the bad. I was also reminded of all the challenges in my life that I was still feeling the pain from, something we probably all struggle with. We often hold on to the really painful events in our life while easily forgetting all the really cool blessings that happen in our life.

As I sat down for lunch during a break in the seminar, I thought about the challenges in my childhood along with some of the victories I’ve had in my life. As I evaluated them, I thought about Vonn Webb, the basketball coach who introduced me to basketball when I was a sophomore in high school. I realized that I wouldn’t have met him if I hadn’t been taken from my mother’s custody 5 years previously.

Challenges in our life, aren’t always bad. In fact, many of them set us up to meet the people that change our lives for the better. I think if we can learn to appreciate the challenges and learn from them as quickly as possible, we will find that we will have a greater quality of life and will accomplish our goals much faster.
